Do Not Complicate Things

"The United States has spent $12 million to develop a pen that would work on zero gravity, upside down, underwater including any other surfaces.

When confronted with the same problem, the Russians used a pencil."

Each day we are confronted with problems and issues whether at home or in business. But why not try to solve things like how the Russians did? It probably would save you a lot of time, ease your mind a bit as you do not have to over analyze the issue as well as you will have lesser fumes. Do not complicate things!

A Better Understanding on the Ponzi Scheme

Ponzi Scheme is defined to as an investment strategy where investors are being paid for the investment of others. I had created a diagram to get people have a better feel on what is it. The diagram explains why as more investor comes in more and more people will be left unpaid.

15 Ways Stores Trick Us and How to Fight Back

Here is a good read on how stores trick you and how to fight back. This is an article from The Simple Dollar Blog. While reading it somehow it made me laugh and realize that it also makes sense and must be very careful while shopping or buying some groceries. This indeed is a great observation. For instance, why do shopping carts are right there by the entrance? Even if you only buy an item would it be more comfortable to just push one than to carry? This leads you to toss more along.

Another of his
observation is that the more desireable items are located far far away like detergents and soaps. This is so, so while pushing your cart in going to the rack and to the counter it would make you toss for more.

Health is Wealth

I remembered a story back then during college about a father dying with millions of fortunes, he has three children. One of the three children always instills the motto to his father that "health is wealth". During his last minute on the bed he was about to divide the fortunes to the three. One will inherit this much, and the second one will have this amount. Unfortunately for the child who always advised his dad that "health is wealth", who happens to be the third child will inherit tons of VITAMINS and MEDICINES.

Today marks the day that I will start to take good care of my health, at a young age of 23 years young my hypertension shoot up to 150/80 during our corporate annual medical check. I had been advised by my dad for the past years to start eating the right diet, but could not, I just could not resist foods from pork to chicken to beef... most of all, all of those fatty foods.

For now, lessons learned from this. I just hope that I will have fortunes enough to share to my kids in the future not VITAMINS and MEDICINES!

National Award

Here is a National Award that I want to share from Mr. Rhodelio Campilan, my professor who obtained his post grad studies in the University of Philippines, and Masters in Commerce Maj. in Finnance in Australia.

He is actually one of the persons that I look up to in my life, of course besides the other two: my dad, and my current boss/mentor whom I am reporting directly.

He is one of the most competent professors in the University of San Carlos, Cebu City having been under him in my finance class that I learned so much! and for three years as an organizational adviser. At a young age, he had just been promoted last June as the chairman of the Department of Business Administration.

Just recently he had been recognize for winning the National award in the Outstanding Business Educator in the field of Finance which were taken during the awarding ceremony for the Philippine Search of Outstanding Business Educators (where I was part of the organizing committe last 2003 in Cebu) held in Century ParkHotel, Manila last December 1, 2005.

"The recognition was my to his contribution in the field of business education, for having the vision and passion as an educator, for sharing honestly to students the practical knowledge in banking and finance hoping they will become more competitive, apply the knowledge acquired when they run their own enterprises or work in a financial institution. This is indeed a blessing and a good way to end the year." said Rhodel.
